Lalamove, the leading on-demand delivery platform, shines the spotlight on the unsung heroes of the road with “Heroes Behind the Wheel”, a global campaign that honors the real-life stories of its partner drivers.
At the heart of the campaign is the “Search for the Next Lalamove Hero”, an online contest held in June that invited partner drivers to share their inspiring personal journeys. Out of over 500 heartfelt submissions, five standout stories from Manila, Pampanga, and Cebu were chosen to be transformed into short films, with the drivers themselves taking center stage as both storytellers and actors.
“Through these films, we’re not just telling stories of Lalamove partner drivers, we are amplifying their voices. By sharing their stories, we hope to foster a deeper appreciation for their role as unsung heroes and inspire more people to acknowledge and celebrate them,” said Djon Nacario, Managing Director of Lalamove Philippines.
Stories That Drive Us
Each short film under the “Heroes Behind the Wheel” banner captures a unique story of determination, service, and sacrifice — from making deliveries under torrential rain to juggling education and also fatherhood on two wheels.
The featured Lalamove films include:
- Kwento ni Mark – “Love is Blind” A hilarious, rain-soaked delivery turned relationship drama featuring Mark Shervin A. Ohoy.
- Kwento ni Deogratias – “Kaagapay” Deogratias Gadil, a partner driver, lends a hand to a fellow rider in need, showing that heroism doesn’t clock out.
- Kwento ni Shane – “Serbisyo” Former soldier Michell Culang redefines service through a life-saving delivery.
- Kwento ni Jozel – “Diploma” Student and full-time rider Jozel Opeña fights for his education one ride at a time.
- Kwento ni Jerome – “Valentine’s Day” Driven by dreams and dedication, Jerome Fugado delivers love — and flowers — while chasing his entrepreneurial goals.
Celebrating Heroes On and Off the Screen
The Lalamove campaign culminates in an intimate block screening event where the partner drivers and their families will watch their stories come to life on the big screen. The event also included an award ceremony to honor outstanding performances:
Mark Ohoy won the Best Actor award (Director’s Choice) and received a ₱3,000 cash prize and trophy. Meanwhile, Jozel Opeña won the Media’s Choice Award, DICT’s Choice Award, and People’s Choice Award (Online Voting) and received a total cash prize of ₱11,000 and trophies.
Moreover, all five partner drivers received special gifts from sponsors, including fuel vouchers from Caltex and smartwatches from MemoXpress — a small token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
All Lalamove partner drivers also have access to exclusive Panalomove Benefits, which include fuel vouchers or discounts, free health and accident insurance, and vehicle maintenance.
