#KARIMADONat45: The story of heritage Filipino fashion brand comes to life at Casa KARIMADON

Forty-five years in the fashion industry is a true testament to KARIMADON as a Filipino brand that keeps a keen eye on trends through time. What started as a humble store in Virra Mall, Greenhills is now the established label that sees women through every stage of life.

KARIMADON

Founded by husband and wife Richard and Josie Go in 1980, the brand has remained family owned through the years. True to its name—an acronym of Richard and Josie’s children—KARIMADON has built a family and a true homegrown label in fashion. KARIMADON’s core message has resonated through the generations of women that have grown with them. It is through this loyal and ever-growing community that has seen decades of success, dotted by heartwarming stories.

KARIMADON is the place where a girl gets her first prom dress. It is where the working woman shops for her power ensemble. It is where aunts find their outfits to several events, and where moms treat themselves when they want to feel good. It is for summer frocks and for formal looks. When the wedding bells ring, KARIMADON is where guests, bridesmaids, and godmothers find that perfect dress.

Defining Moments

KARIMADON also prides itself through a few defining moments. The early ’90s saw its steady progress through branches in Metro Manila and key locations in Visayas and Mindanao. In the early 2000s, KARIMADON found muses in Filipina icons Marian Rivera and Bea Alonzo. Soon after, they entered the e-commerce space and found online homes in the leading shopping apps and sites. By the 2010s, they found balance between classic silhouettes and shifts in fashion dictated by a digital consciousness. By 2015, KARIMADON established locations in Indonesia, marking the start of its international presence along with participating in trade shows in Sydney and Dubai. It also participated in Vancouver Fashion Week in 2017. The year 2019 saw the brand expanded through a franchise in Mindanao.

Other highlights include collaborations with Filipino designers like Eric de los Santos and Rosenthal Tee. In 2024, as a preview of this year’s anniversary festivities, KARIMADON marked new firsts through a collaboration with Malingkat Weaves for New Weave by KARIMADON and their first mother-and-daughter collection entitled In Bloom. They also launched a premium fragrance collection which quickly became a crowd favorite.

KARIMADON showed its gratitude to its partners and patrons through its anniversary celebration, Casa KARIMADON. The interactive event welcomed guests to KARIMADON’s version of a doll house with dress fittings, designer consultations, and shopping. Photo areas showcased a timeline of KARIMADON’s achievements and provided venues for social media content.

Casa KARIMADON also served as the formal launch event of KARIMADON Custom Atelier. As part of anticipation of the next 45 years, KARIMADON Custom Atelier offers clients the experience for KARIMADON’s one-of-a-kind designs.

KARIMADON

This is but the start of the new chapter for KARIMADON, a prelude for more to come. This 45th year celebration is

Women Empowerment

but a promise for KARIMADON to continuously be a heritage Filipino brand that champions femininity, elegance, and timelessness. Josie Go, president of KARIMADON, says, “We’re happy that lately, Filipino products have been getting more support and attention. We’re looking forward to seeing the local creative market further grow into a world-class industry.”

She continues, “We want to stay true to being a legacy brand with great products that people can depend on but we’re excited to enhance and elevate the customer experience through providing custom services and offering a wider selection of complementary products for shopping convenience, plus highlighting more local materials in our next collections.”
